AG MACHINERY ELECTRONICS

 AND CAN BUS

CAN bus technology is at the core of ag machinery functionality.  It serves as the backbone for control and automation of ag equipment.  Our graduate education program trains future generations of systems engineers to develop intelligent ag machinery using CAN bus technology.

PRECISION AGRICULTURE, AERIAL IMAGERY, AND UAVs

Precision agriculture merges agronomic data, machine data, and crop production models to improve our annual crop production decisions.  Our research leverages on-machine and UAV technologies to develop new knowledge on precision ag applications.

Our sensors and controls team is involved in the development, calibration, and implementation of smart sensing for agriculture.  Our research helps make ag machinery smarter and more automated to improve productivity and crop quality.

BIOMASS LOGISTICS

Cellulosic ethanol, produced from corn stover, is a major industry in Iowa with over 600,000 acres of annual production.  Our research team applies business analytics and cyber physical systems to improve the efficiency and productivity of supply chain equipment.  We also research production methods that enhance and protect biomass quality.
